Christmas Gifts for Local Families

2020 has been a difficult year financially for many in the community and at Holy Nativity we wanted to do something to make the Christmas Holidays a little easier and a little more joyful for everyone.  When Bailey Wilcock suggested to Revd Robb that we could give something to every kid on the estate it started to snowball from there. “When my trip to Gambia was cancelled due to covid, I wanted the money to go into the community that…

Lunch Club Christmas Hamper Delivery

2020 has been a difficult year with Holy Nativity having to stop many of it’s regular activities to keep everyone safe. One of the things that has been really missed around the community is the Elderly and Disabled Lunch Club on Tuesdays. Today, the volunteers at the lunch club finished the surprise delivery of Christmas hampers! Here is what Sue O’Brien says about it. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the little hampers that…

Compline – Night Prayers

During locjdown there will be a live service of compline at 6pm each Sunday over on our YouTube channel. Why not light some candles and join Revd Robb and Ruth each week. There will be lots of space to pray and some singing as well.

Compline

As we enter into a second lockdown, Revd Robb and Ruth will be leading a simple service of night prayer at 8pm tonight over on our YouTube channel. We will be praying for our whole community as we enter this difficult time as a country. We would love it if you could join us. You may like to light some candles in your home whilst we pray. Please download a copy of the order of service below.

Sunday Services

This Sunday we will have a trial Sunday Service as we make steps towards worship in person at Holy Nativity.  At 11.30am there will be a said service with additional safety measures in place, in line with Government and Church of England guidelines.  This will be quite different to what we have been used to in Church. The service is at 11:30am and should last about half an hour.  Due to social distancing and the size of the church, there…

A Year in the Life of a #MixyIntern

At Holy Nativity we have been working hard to start a vocational community of 18-30 year olds. This is our vision for the future here that we have been working on for the last three years. Revd Robb works as part of the Church of England’s national strategy to ensure that there are churches and ministers in all of England’s social housing estates. At Holy Nativity, we want to play our part in the estates of Mixenden and Illingworth in…

A Letter to us all from Bishop Nick

Bishop Nick has written to everyone. Friday 10 July 2020 To all parishes in the Diocese of Leeds Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We are living through challenging and extraordinary times. The church, committed to the real world and the communities in which we are set, has continued to worship and serve despite the restrictions. Given the nature of the virus, it will be some time before we emerge into something resembling ‘normality’. We have to be clear and…

Great Big God

Thank you all so much for being good sports and getting involved in putting together this community video of Great Big God. It is a song that we sing at Ash Green School all of the time so it came as no surprise when someone from the community requested it for the Sunday service a couple of weeks ago. People all over the place digging out their camera phones and acting the clown for the video! A joy to see…
