Maundy Thursday and Good Friday

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday

It has been a really eventful couple of days! Once the traditional foot washing service for Maundy Thursday had concluded, Holy Nativity’s Youth Group kept the overnight vigil with a sleepover.

Maundy Thursday is all about remembering the last supper so they began by baking bread for the vigil. Millions of candles were set up on the high altar with the loaf and then we were keeping watch all through the night.

Later, a camp fire and toasted marshmallows kept everyone warm. Silly games were played. Burgers were eaten. And then we pitched tents and started [not] sleeping.

In the morning there was just enough time for a bacon butty before setting up for the All Age Stations of the Cross. Lots of people from the congregation and all across the estate joined us as we remembered Jesus’ last hours before the crucifixion.

Thank you to everyone who came along. An especially large thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who gave up their spare time to make it all happen!
