National Lottery Funding Helping Us Grow as a 7-Day-a-Week Community Hub
We’re delighted to share that we’ve been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to help us continue and expand our work here in the heart of the community.
This grant allows us to expand the role of our Caretaker Lee to recognise the amazing work he does with our growing community of volunteers as well as all he does to ensure that we can keep our doors open seven days a week. Our aim is to be a warm, welcoming, and supportive space for everyone in Mixenden—and this funding brings us closer to that long-term vision.

Over the past year, support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) helped us grow our activities and services, which now include:
- A Pay-As-You-Can Café
- Debt counselling and mental health support
- Warm space sessions and emergency food support
- Housing, family, and energy-saving advice
- Community gardening and green space improvements
- Arts activities and youth programmes
Our Caretaker and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Lee, has played a vital role in all of this—maintaining our space, supporting volunteers, and helping us welcome a wide range of local groups and initiatives.
As Revd Robb puts it:
“Lee has been an absolute gift to our community. This funding means we can continue to serve our neighbours and work with other groups across the community to support people to volunteer with us and help their community to thrive. If anyone is interested in volunteering with us they can find more details about how to get involved on our website here.”
Jo Beacroft-Mitchell, our Development Manager said “We’re incredibly grateful for this support from The National Lottery Community Fund, and we’re excited about what’s next—growing our partnerships, welcoming more people through our doors, and continuing to be a place of hope, help, and hospitality in Mixenden”.
